Former AC Milan goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giovanni-c14985 Galli believes that his former employers have nothing to lose in the quarter-finals of UEFA Champions League against Barcelona.
The Rossoneri were drawn against the Catalan giants in the last eight of the Champions League. The two clubs were placed in the same group this season, with some intense games played between the two giants.
Milan held the Blaugrana to a 2-2 draw in the Camp Nou fixture, while the European Champions emerged victorious by a 3-2 margin at San Siro.
Galli is not undermining the abilities of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, but he believes that the pressure will be on the Spanish side, and the Rossoneri will benefit from it. The former Italian international admitted that Milan have got the worst
possible start they could have hoped for, and defeating Barcelona will ask for a big effort from them.
While talking to the reporters, Galli said:
"There is no doubt that for AC Milan this is the most difficult tie, the worst draw that they could have gotten. How do you knock out Barcelona? How do you stop [Lionel] Messi? Still, while it's true that Barca are likely to have
60 per cent possession, there are two games to play and both will start at 0-0. For me, Milan will have a psychological advantage. Against the Catalans, Milan will have little to lose.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 shot-stopper believes that Barca are still the best team in Europe, and they will be looking to prove their worth by continuing their dream run.
"It's up to Barca to prove that they are the best side in the world; that they are still number one. Barcelona has to beat Milan, more than Milan has to beat Barcelona." Added the former shot-stopper
Barcelona have won the European competition on two of the previous three occasions, and have established themselves as unarguably the best team in Europe. On the other hand, the Rossoneri have the second best European record of
all time, but their recent endeavours have not been so fruitful.
The last time Milan won the Champions League was in the 2006/07 season.
