Milarrow keen to gain second straight success at Fontwell
After seven consecutive failures, Milarrow marvellously broke his maiden when he first ran at Fontwell racecourse on March 22. Thus, it is proved that this venue is lucky enough for him.
During the last six months, the Colin Tizzard trained bay gelding did not run any race. He spent most of this off-field time in school as the trainer was keen to improvise the young runner’s racing stamina.
Now, the five-year-old Irish horse is all set to return to action again at Fontwell that will host the class 4 race of Oxford Landing Estates Novices´ Hurdle on Wednesday, October 24.
The sport fans, who watched the way Milarrow behaved in his last Fontwell trip, are quite confident ahead of this contest, claiming that the gelding will surely make a big impact this time as well.
The talented son of Milan out of Fleeting Arrow has to compete against five rivals over 2 miles, 2 furlongs and 110 yards with the surface being heavy.
The soil condition can be somewhat disturbing for Milarrow as he has never experienced such sort of surface in his 8-race career so far.
The Amby Stafford bred sprinter has run most of the times over good to soft or purely soft grounds. But, Tizzard might have prepared his pupil for heavy courses as well.
Due to his long break, the punters have underrated him for this race as they are not sure what will he do at the comeback. Instead, they have picked Easter Day as the 6-4 favourite. The Paul Nicholls trained French bay gelding is looking to break his maiden
in this race.
Hopefully, Milarrow will not have to face enough resistance from this rookie runner, but it does not mean that his march towards the finish line is likely to be totally smooth as Pearls Legend has a lot of potential to hamper him.
The John Spearing trained bay gelding accomplished a grand victory on July 11 when he beat Latest Trend by four lengths to win the PP Business Improvement Consultants Maiden Hurdle.
