Question:

Mild astigmatism?

So, I went to my optometrist today and he said I have mild astigmatism in my left eye. However, when I said I wanted to wear contacts, he just gave me the Oasis Acuvue kind (I also have dry eyes). Does that mean my astigmatism doesn't really need to be corrected or something? Also, I noticed that my eyes have the same prescription now when it comes to contacts; I looked at the prescription and it said -4.25 for my right eye and -4.75 for my left eye but then next to it, it said +0.50. Does this mean my astigmatism just made my left eye prescription equal to my right? That kind of confused me..

  1. That's right...a 0.50 cylinder ( astigmatism correction) is usually split in half, with a 0.25 added to the sphere number...

After the conversion, and vertex distance adjustment, both eyes come out pretty well equal.

  2. Yes, there is no correction needed for asti. Just use the oasys it is great for the eyes.
