Mile last-minute tips?

i'm running the mile tommorrow morning. any tips on what to eat, how fast to run each lap, or anything else?

i ran a 6:39 last time and am aiming for a 6:20 or 6:15 this time. I'm a 13-year-old girl.

  1. Eat pasta tonight. Get a good nights sleep. In the future, try to get a good sleep during the 2 nights leading up to the race, but its a little late for that. Eat your usual breakfast. For lunch, eat something bland like bread or pretzels. Also eat something like an apple, bananna, carrots or granola bars. Don't eat within and hour or two of your race. Try to only eat something that won't leave much taste in your mouth much before that time, either. I only am careful about what I eat because I throw up easily, but you might want to eat carefully just to be safe. Drink at least 1 or 2 bottles of water. You should need to urgently use the restroom at least 1 time an hour. your spits every quarter mile should be 1:31, 3:06, 4:38, 6:15


  2. those are good times for a six fifteen do this: go out hard and run a 1:25, then like a 1:40, then a 1:35, and a 1:35 again good luck that will be around that time maybe a little faster even good luck and try to break six dont settle for anything less than your best

  3. just try to think that your not tired and push yourself. Run hard the last lap. for me thinking about running harder helps. Its a mental thing. You could try it

  4. drink gatorade for breakfast and make sure you have at least a cup of water an hour before your race. if water runs through you fast, only drink a half of a cup. eat something like oats or a nutri-grain bar, it helpd your stomach stay settled and it's healthy.

    On the laps, when you take off on the first lap, sprint for 15 seconds, the adrenaline will take car eof the sprint. keep pace on the 1st and second lap and then kick it up in the third lap to a faster pace. on the last lap, start increasing speed after every hundred meters. on the homestretch, sprint as if your life depended on it. You might not get the 6:2o u wantd, but u might get at least a 6:35 to 6:30. but hey, every secong off counts. And have fun while you run, that's the only way that u will be able to convince urself that u can keep going even when u are tired, mind over matter. if ur having fun and really having fun, then u can do anything as long as u work for it.
