I currently run about a nine minute mile which I know isnt good. I'm more of a short distance runner and I was wondering there were any other ways then just going out and running to get endurance. I play all sorts of sports but long distance running just really isnt my thing.

  1. Well If you dont want to run for a long distance, Do suicides. If you play basketball you would know what that is. Have fun doing it and Good luck. :-)

  2. There are other ways, but running really is the best way. I suggest running with a friend/friends. Your runs will be more enjoyable and you'll be able to improve faster.

  3. I honestly do have the same exact problem. And really, there isnt another way. General work out maybe, of course dont just rely on me have your mom or you contact a trainer, even ask people that you see that are stamina built and ask. Good luck

  4. If you are looking to improve your mile time, train by running shorter distances to build your speed. Like if you normally run 1600m try running 800m 2-4 times a week. Just eat healthy and don't eat 2 hours before you run, it will cause a sidestich. Hope this helped! :)

  5. Start riding...plus my idea of long distance is at least 9 miles so...I don't understand why 1 mile in 9 mins would be bad? I would test yourself and see how far you can seriously go. If you can do 6 miles in an hour than your more long distance material.

Jogging up hill helps, High altitude climates help, practice your breathing...try to breath in through your stomach? What I mean by this is when you breath in...your lower stomach should rise not your chest.
