Considering purchasing a 2001 Nissan Micra, and wondering about running costs. Does anyone know approximately how many miles to the litre (or gallon) I can get in a micra? Or for that matter in a ford ka, vaxhaul corsa or renault clio?

Thanks for your help :)

  1. Go to Parkers car guide web site it will tell you mpg insurance group top speed the lot.

  2. It's not that you have to think about it's emissions, back dated.

    See link.

  3. All the cars you've listed are all pretty good. If you're really worried about fuel consumption then it might be worth considering a diesel rather than a petrol engined car. The Peugeot 206 1.4 HDI would beat all the cars you've listed.

Best way to find out is to look at a website like Auto Trader which advertises similar cars & has a "technical data" option on most ads. It will show MPG, insurance group, road tax etc.

  4. I think you must expect the use of fuel to be average 0.6litre pr 10km. Nissan micra is a small car so it economic with the fuel. But city traffic is slow, so I expect my tip is serious.

You must also remember that the engine is a little old. It was better new.

  5. You should get 30 to 35 MPG from a micra or similar car.

  6. all i can tell u for sure is my fiesta tdci does 65 mpg around town and a years tax is 35 pounds.

  7. A 2001 Micra should average about 46mpg , regardless of whether it's the 1.0 or 1.1 engine. It's by far the best choice, far better built & more reliable than your other suggestions.

A Ford Ka of the same age would return about the same economy, but they're very small, poorly built & unreliable.

Corsas are much better than Fords, economy varies as there's a big choice of petrol & diesel engines - the same applies to Clios.
