Milford defeats Wachusett boys’ volleyball team on Wednesday – Mid-Wach League
A thrilling game of volleyball was seen between two competitive teams on Wednesday. The match that took place was part of the Mid-Wach League.
The two teams that contested each other were Milford as well as Wachusett boys’ volleyball team. In a display of impressive volleyball skills from both quarters, Milford was able to hand out a defeat to the host team by securing a win for themselves at 3-1.
By the time the match had reached its close and Milford boys were leaping with joy at having secured themselves a much deserved win while Wachusett were making their way back to the lockers rooms after having lost in their home ground, the scoreboard displayed
the following final set  scores, 25-21, 22-25, 25-19 and 25-19.
With their recent win, Milford has been able to earn themselves the credit of improving their overall season wins to the amount of 14. They have been able to achieve this commendable number of victories after having suffered no loss at all. The performance
statistics of Milford also show an equally impressive record. In league play, Milford has been able to grab a total number of eight wins. They have accomplished this at the cost of undergoing no loss at all in the MWL.
The reason for the spectacular win that Milford has been able to achieve is the fact that they played with excellent team coordination. Both the attack and the defence of Milford was well synchronized and put up quite a challenge for Wachusett to tackle
with.
The players that stood prominent in the match from the Milford side were Tim MacMannis and Alex Wasik. MacMannis is the sophomore setter for his team whereas Wasik is the Milford junior captain. MacMannis was able to register the highest number of assists
in this season by making 44 of them. He was also able to add three points in the shape of kills towards the Milford side of the scoreboard. MacMannis was helped by his teammate Wasik, who kept the scoreboard ticking by posting 20 kills. Not only did Wasik
contribute by making kills, he also supported his team by performing eight blocks.
Next in line for Milford is another league match that will be calling for the same zeal and determination shown in their last game. Milford is scheduled to play the match on Tuesday.
“It was not one of our cleanest matches, but we came from behind in game one and that was a big game for us,” said Milford coach Linda Zacchilli. “We made it more difficult than it should have been. We would have a lead and then we'd let up. We made some
adjustments; kept them playing defense and then we did pretty well.”
