Military Attack stamps authority in Singapore Airlines International Cup – Horseracing News
Military Attack dictated terms in the Singapore Airlines International Cup (Group 1), despite not being rated as the favourite to succeed. He had entered the competition with a starting price of 12 to 5, which
was quite a good one and suggested that he would definitely be fighting for the top three positions.
However, the five-year-old gelding exceeded the expectations of his team and the bookies, winning the race by more than three lengths. No one was able to challenge him from the start until the end, as he was
really aggressive.
Zac Purton, who partnered Military Attack in the race, was impressed with the performance of his challenger and said, “To do what he's done against that sort of field is scary to think how much he's improved.
I came here thinking I had a chance and I would have been happy to win but to win like that is phenomenal.”
On the other hand, trainer John Moore was also delighted with the form of his gelding and stated, “I'm so happy I got the horse. Purton's given him the best ride you've ever seen and I'm absolutely ecstatic.”
Although Military Attack has been in the sport for quite some time, his performances were not much consistent in the past. He debuted in 2011 and was able to win three races back then. However, his form faded
afterwards and he was unable to make an impression during the next season, finishing without even a single victory.
Things have turned around positively for the Irish challenger this year, as he has already succeeded in five events. This clearly shows that he has improved a lot and might cause serious problems to his rivals
in the future races.
After winning his first race of the 2013 season, Military Attack struggled to deliver decent results in the next couple of events, which indicated that he would be unable to live up to the expectations of his
team. However, he has won four back-to-back races since then and it will be interesting to see who manages to break his winning streak.
With his success in the Singapore Airlines International Cup, the young gelding has increased his overall tally of victories to eight.
