  1. Not at MEPS, but when you get to where you will do your Basic Training, you'll be expected to do a certain number of exercises before you get sent to your Basic Training unit, like 10 push-ups, for example.

The bottom line is if you're planning to join the military, it's up to you to start getting yourself in shape before you go to Basic.  It'll make your life alot easier.

  2. No.  You will go the night before and take your Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) You will then stay overnight in a hotel and shipped back to the MEPS station in the early hours of the morning. While at MEPS you will take an eye test, hearing test, fill out lots of paper work, have blood drawn and get a complete physical. After that is done you will then see your service counselor who will go over your last bit of paper work, look over your contract with you and then have you sign it. When he/she is done you will be taken to a room and sworn-in. After being sworn-in you will be released to your recruiter who will take you home.

That is how it went for me when i enlisted in the Marine Corps. It takes the better part of a day to get everything done.

  3. Not typically, they will have you work out plenty in boot camp.
