When you go to get your Military ID, do you get it that day or do you wait? I'm in the army Guard if that makes a difference

  1. You get it the same day. It is just the same as Active duty ID. There is no color.

    You take picture.

They but it in the cac machine so it updates the chip, mine took 20 min to process.

Then youre done and go about your business.

    Too easy!!!

  2. i went and got mine from the nearest armory and it took like 5 mins. you can get a pre basic card then when you get to basic you get your new one

  3. You should get a green ID card when you are on A/D completing your IADTor if you get activated.  If you are back in a drill status then you should get a red ID card. Your red card with your LES enables you to go to the commissary 4 times a months.

  4. Am I missing something here?

Are you asking about a renewal? Your CO can tell you. If you live near a post you can get it done in a day. If not and your unit is in the middle of nowhere it will take a few days.

I might be wrong but your question sounds bogus. You would just know who to ask.

  5. that day.

...and to Wanderer.  The Army doesn't deal with green ID cards  (and red is also phased out AFAIK) anymore.  It's a standard ID card that all AD, CIV and Contractors receive.

As a matter of fact, all services use the same one now.

Retirees still get blue ID cards but that's going to change in the near future too.
