Military Questions on varies subjects

I have quite a few questions pertaining to the United States Military.

1.) Being the U.S Air Force's Basic training is going from 6.5 weeks to 8.5 weeks effective in November is there anyway I could go ahead and get into basic before that time frame so I will only have to do 6.5?(To those who do not know, go to Airforce.com and go into Basic training, it shows where they have made Official changes to the Basic training)

2.) Is there a list I could go to, to see all the dates that basic training for the Air Force begins? or would I only be able to see that when I proscess at MEPS?

3.) I have a Juvenile record, I've given the records to my recruiter and he is still going to help me proscess, does this mean I could still be rejected?

4.) How many phone calls do you get in average in basic training for the AF?

5.) I am getting married soon, did I choose the best branch for family?

Personal expierance would work best =)

  1. 1) If you aren't already DEP'd then you haven't a chance of getting the 6.5 BMT.

2)You'll probably have to wait on your job anyway...

3)If your recruiter knows EVERYTHING and is still willing to put in the time, he must be pretty sure.

    4)LOLs

    5)Sure did

  2. It won't make too much difference.  Basic is actually a fun experience when you look back.  I do believe the extra week is gonna be warrior week, which is training in the field, awesome time.  You can't see the list and it is a good possibility you will have to wait a few months after talking to your recruiter like I did.  Make SURE you go in with a GUARANTEED job written on your contact, NOT open general. If your recruiter is taking his time to process you you should be fine. I worked for a recruiter for a bit and they don't have much time to spare.  I believe I got 2 or 3 phone calls in basic.  The first one comes about a week after being there.  Air Force is awesome family wise, if you are sure it's the right one get married before basic, that way when you get to tech school you are already getting the extra money.  Take your cell phone to basic.  That way you can call on your flight there.  When you get to basic they will take the phone from you, but will give it back at the end.   They don't punish you for having it.   Feel free to e-mail me any other questions.

  3. 1: Lazy are we?  whats an extra 2 weeks to better prepare yourself for military service?  grow up.  Every other branch has been nine weeks or more since the get go.

2: when you ship is directly related to when your follow on schooling begins.  if there isn't a slot for you until the middle of December, then that's when you ship.

3: yes you can still be denied a waiver.  the Recruiter has no say as to whether DQs are waived or not.

4: phone calls must be earned.  My stepson ( Navy) got three.. the day he arrived, New year's day( did NOT get  a call on Christmas) and the day after Battlestations.  you could go the entire time without ever earning a call, or you could get one every Sunday.

5: only you and your spouse can answer that.
