Question:

Military Support For Mom?

When I announced that I am enlisting in the Army National Guard next September when I'm 18, she laughed and said I don't have what it takes and I'm not mentally strong enough. And she assumes the worst will happen- that I'll be killed. Is there anything I can say or a website that is specifically for that?

  1. no... you can refer her to cafemom there are some military support groups there but once you do it... mom will understand...

  2. I have this say: "No On Can See and Understand Your Vision But Yourself." by Francois Garel Jean-Enard it means that your taughts can not be always shared and understood by others. And trying to convince them is only a waste of energy and deviation from that vision. At the end of the day, you will be at basic training, you will know what it feels, you will be living your life-miserable or happy. So when you turn 18, see your recruiter and say bye to mom on your shipment date and she will see you back with your uniform and your unit's patch on your shoulder

  3. Not to put down your mother but, she sounds like she doesn't think much of you. And at this point in your life it might just be a wiser move to go Regular Army and set yourself a new course in life. If I'm wrong I apologize. It's just from what you said her response was, you'd be better off getting away from her for awhile and see how your relationship evolves.

  4. She can also try military.com or armytimes.  Good luck, be strong, if it is something you want to do, don't let her doubt cloud your hopes and dreams. Good luck to you.
