I was wondering if anyone knows a way to find playgroups around Washington, DC.. Everything here is so expensive that I have not been able to put my 3 year old into part time pre-school but I would like for her to have some friends. Any advice?

  1. do you live in pg, if so go to www.pgparks.com  They have literally hundreds of activities for the little ones & you can meet friends there and have your own playgroups.  Maybe we'll run into each other.  Some activities require a fee but it's really not much say $50 for a two month swim class or something.

If you don't want to pay they also have story times at the local libraries. go here http://www.prge.lib.md.us/Current/Curren...

If you don't live in PG there are literally thousands of cheap/free activities in the surrounding areas.

**I guess Ash doesn't understand that as a military wife you don't get that much choice about where you live.

  2. move. Everyone knows that DC is not a place for children. It is very expensive even surrounding areas are somewhat expensive. I would take your child to a lot of playgrounds and public libraries. Get out more and meet other mothers. Meet other military wives if possible. Try "mommy and me". I understand your situation because I stay at home with my child and it takes 2 incomes in DC and areas like DC. I don't live in DC, but understand.

Dregirl is right. I really don't have a clue about that military life. My husband was afraid of his military. Most young men run from his military and hide once they reach a certain age and by law they have to serve at least 2 years and they run cuz they know it's scary. Then they knock on your door and then come looking for you. lol. It's not like the American military which is easier.

  3. http://www.meetup.com/cities/us/dc/washi...

meetup.com has been my saving grace down here in Camp Lejeune.  Above, is link to some meetup groups in your area.  My son and I are active in our playgroup... and both of us have made so many friends.  The life of a military life can be a very lonely one when you don't know anyone... but honestly, check out meetup.com.  You won't be disappointed.  Best of all, it's free to sign up, and most groups are free or have a minimal yearly membership fee (like $10 at most).

    I hope this helps!
