Question:

Military aircraft mechanic then A&P

i was in the army, working on hueys and hawks, i just need some one who has been in the miltary and used their experience to help get thier A&P, i just need to know the proccess. i have my dd-214 and my documents from both my huey and hawk schools..

  1. Hmmm...that's a good question....

    I was never in the military but I have worked with a lot of former military A&P's. MOst came out of the US Navy. In talking with them, they were all trained to become A&P's and after their 18months to 2-years of training, they took the written and practicals and were certified by the FAA and with the military. According to them, the training for the military qualifications went hand-in-hand with getting their FAA A&P certification.

    If you have all of your training documentation and your military records showing that you did A&P work for two years, thats all you should need to show the FAA to be able to apply for certification.

    Call your local FSDO and inquire about the process... I can't imagine that it would be all that comprehensive...
