Question:

Military and Ulcerative Colitis?

I will be as brief as possible. I am in the Coat Guard I saw the colon doctor today, he told me he was 98% sure I had Ulcerative Colitis. He actually said "I'll bet a dollar to your dime you have Ulcerative Colitis." I'm set up for a colonoscopy on Tuesday. If he is correct which he seemed pretty positive about he said I would have to be discharged from the service. My question is, does anyone know if that's a fact, or more often true than not?

  1. hi eC, I am a female crohn's pt. for 28 yrs.

If you go to the crohn's and colitis foundation's site, they have tons of information, a live chat and a hotline run by healthcare professionals. There is also an open forum where you can post questions to others like yourself.

CCFA also runs support group chapters throughout the USA. If you can, try to attend a local meeting b/c you can meet many folks from different walks of life who have UC. They can share their experiences w/you.

Definitely look into ccfa's site. They are a very valuable resource. That is how I educated myself about my illness.

Thank you for defending our country and please feel free to email me if you have questions.  Wishing you a life long remission.
