Ok i herd that you can join the USMC with flat feet as long as they do not cause you any pain. Now i run 3+miles every other day with a 20lbs weight vest on. Do you think i will have a problem joining? I feel no pain in my feet.

Thanks

  1. If you can get a waiver for it then yeah I guess so.

  2. Pes Planus is the medical term for flat feet. It is only disqualifying if it is symptomatic (e.g. pain) or there is a history of the use of custom orthotics or prescription footwear to correct the problem. The source below is the standard.

  3. Im in the navy, and yes you can join. I have flat feet, and they just asked me when i joined 8 years ago if they gave me any problems. i told them no and they passed me right through. Now i've had problems with my feet during my military career due to wearing boots all the time. So it may be a problem later on. But they'll let you in!

  4. You can join with flat feet however I dont think you should be running with a 20 LBS. vest because you can cause damage to your knees.

Try alternating your running with carrying 40LBS. in a Pack and Hump around 6 miles. Also swimming will build your cardio.

    Good Luck!

  5. In 1976 I joined the Infantry with flat feet,I DIDN'T mention I had them, but when they checked my feet,I curled my toes to make it look like I had an arch,I was in great shape because I was a swimmer

just got back from Guantanamo 2 years ago and have been home from Iraq (still in the Infantry) 3 months ago (I'm now 50)

    So.....there you go..

    don't say nothing if they don't hurt you,most don't.

I do recomend you change your socks alot, keep your nails trimmed and LOTS of foot powder and you'll be alright
