  1. WIth the new GI Bill taking effect next summer, they will pay for a good chunk, if not all, of your college. YOu could even enlist as a pharm tech and, depending on the school you attend afterwards, get some credit from your military training.

  2. The going rate is 40K.

You have to commit to a certain amount of time, currently unknown (it has changed).

One low point: not having college prior to enlisting you will enter as a grunt not an officer.

You have to test before being allowed in.  If you test high enough you may qualify for a higher rank.

I assume you are quite smart as you want to be a pharmacist.

You may also gain war experience.

    Hope this helps.

  3. The U.S. Military is great for covering college costs.  In addition to getting money, you will get first-hand training in the area you'd like to study.  Many colleges now offer credits for military service, and your experience will make it easier to get a job after graduating.

If you enlist Active Duty, the Montgomery G.I. Bill will pay for a majority of your college.  Right now, the GI Bill is only available to Veterans who have served at least two years Active Duty.  You forfeit $100/month for your first calendar year enlisted and get up to $1,057/month for your education.

If you serve in the Reserves for at least 6 years, you can get $297/month for your education; you do not forfeit any pay to claim this amount.

Some branches offer tuition assistance as well, if you'd like to take classes while serving.

A GREAT option is the ROTC program.  You attend school on a partial or full scholarship, take one extra class per semester, and have to do a lot of physical exercise.  When you're done with school, you go into the branch you choose as an Officer for 4 years.

If you only enlist in the Military for the educational benefits, it's going to be extremely difficult for you.  You'll spend at least 4 years of your life doing something that you may not necessarily love.

Talk to a recruiter from each branch (US Marine Corps, US Army, US Air Force, US Navy, and the US Coast Guard).  Ask them what makes their branch the best, and get some stats on educational benefits.

  4. Here's a link to a web site that outlines the education benefits of the different branches of service. Besides tuition assistance and GI Bill benefits there's service academies and ROTC programs at different colleges. After you've gone through this check the different service academies and rotc scholarship programs also check the recruiting websites of the different branches of service.
