  1. You`re not supposed to do that with the new ACUs(grin).

  2. Starch - lots of starch. A hot iron, and a lot of patience.

  3. Cleaners and heavy starch.

  4. I have a trick...I seldom took my uniforms to the cleaners. (only the dress ones for inspection)

Take a piece of brown paper. Like the kind of paper for wrapping boxes or grocery sack.

Cut it to size about 6 X12 inches or however big is easy to work with.

Use a spray bottle with water and a hot iron.

Place the paper over the area you want a crease and spray some water on it. You don't want it wet, but damp

Then put the hot iron over it. It will set in a good crease.

Starch over the uniform after you set the crease with the paper.

Of course the cleaners will put it it in easy but it gets costly. The paper trick works great. I did it all the time.

It takes a little work, but I liked to have my uniform when I wanted it and I'm too cheap for cleaners every week.

Note: I was in the Navy and did not wear what is refered to as BDUs. I wore working whites and working blues. The whites were a cotton uniform that we had to press every day. The blues were a wool/cotton blend that needed pressing. We also wore "dungarees" and that was a cotton/poly uniform that got pressed.  So it depends on the branch of service and what uniform you are talking about.

I sent my jumper whites to the cleaners...they are hard to press. I also sent my dress blues to the cleaners.

I just got a feeling you wanted to know how to do it at home. The cleaners is a generic answer.

  5. Cleaners

  6. When I served, regulations stated that you weren't allowed to have creases in your uniforn unless it's your Dress Uniform...

You washed, then Hang dry (no dryer)

  7. I take them to the dry cleaners!

  8. Aboout six pounds of starch!

I have actually used Mop and Glow however would not suggest it for anything other than inspection uniforms.

If you turn your cammies inside out and put the stuff in a spray bottle than soak let dry and iron but you only have one shot than have to wash rinse repeat if you s***w it u and when you're done you can hold your trousers straight out in front of you no joke. But it clogs the ability for your uniform to "breathe" so would not ever suggest it for day to day use use unless you lik the silver bullet.

The Marines know what im talking about.

And also the old uniforms were also prohibited from having starch on them just so you know.

  9. Or the AF ABU's!   We take them out of the dryer 99% dry, then hubby goes over the crease, doing a handpress.  No irons!

  10. When i was in the service, I took them to the cleaners.
