Question:

Military pay question, help!?

My husband's in the Marine Corps and gets paid on the 1st and the 15th of each month. If that falls on a weekend then he gets paid the Friday before. Does this apply to holidays as well? Labor Day falls on the 1st(a Monday), so would he get paid the Friday before or would it not matter since it's not an actual weekend?

I hope it's not too confusing, we just don't know and would like to find out before then. Thanks to any help!

  1. Yeah, check out this website...

  2. For Labor Day he'll be paid Friday :-)

  3. If the 1st or 15th ever falls on a weekend or Federal holiday the service member is paid the last workday prior to payday.  As for the upcoming weekend, he will get paid on Friday or Thursday, depending on who he banks with (USAA gets paid 24 hours earlier than most other banks).  If it was on a training holiday he would still have to wait for the actual payday.  The rule of thumb is if the bank is closed that day (excluding Saturday) then they will get paid the day prior.

  4. You'll get paid on friday. They always make sure that you have your money by the 1st or 15th, so if those days fall on a weekend or holiday you will get paid the friday before. So we get paid on the 29th of this month.

  5. He will get paid on Friday... if the 1st/15th is a holiday then the last workday before the holiday is payday, if the 1st/15th is on a weekend then payday is the Friday before that weekend

  6. He will probably get it on Thursday night/ Friday morning if it's direct deposit and depending on the bank.

  7. Yes!  I forgot that it was a holiday weekend!  Woohoo!  lol  Yup, "we" get payed this Friday rather than having to wait until Monday.

*fun fact: if you get a USAA account, the direct deposit goes in the day before payday usually.  So you get your money 24 hours before everyone else.  My husband loves that "feature".

  8. Yes his pay should be in his account either Thursday night/Friday morning or Friday night/Sat morning because Monday is a holiday.
