I'm looking for ideas for military style discipline for children ages 4+. so far I have parade rest for a set amount of time for minor problems, running laps or push ups for bigger problems. making beds, cleaning rotations, and so on and so forth will be the foundation along with excerise ( planning family type sports) educational extras on top of school when there isn't much homework ( for older children) any other ideas?

  1. Really for what?  Boy, I can imagine what they will be doing when they are old enough to get out of the house.

  2. Are you kidding me?

They're children, not enlisted men.  Besides, if you are trying to instill a sense in them that exercise is good and healthy, why would you also want to use it as a form of punishment?

Make the punishment fit the crime.  If they don't make their bed, for example, they have to make all of the beds the next day.  Also, while chores and responsibilities are great, make sure they are age-appropriate.

But "cleaning rotations"?  That sounds like you're being a bit of a slave driver.  And educational extras are nice, but they also need time to just play, goof around, and be children.

  3. eeks! That's just scary.

I think a regimen like that for young children is too rough.

Your profile pic tells me you aren't kidding though :S

  4. they are children! Let them be young! Do not try and make them grow up too fast, that is what's wrong with our society today!
