  1. When you start out with weaning, you are giving such small amounts that you need solids AND milk at each feed.

When I weaned DS, I used to give him a bit of milk, no more than half, and then the solids and then the rest of the milk.  That way, you take the edge off the hunger before you try to get her to feed in a completely different way to what she is used to.

    Enjoy it!

  2. try the solids first, some dried things like baby rice you can mix with a little of her milk, then finish off with her bottle, good luck,

  3. i usually give my baby the bottle first then give him the rice cereal after he has his bottle

  4. No do it the other way round, at least if she rejects the solid food you have the milk ready.

  5. Yes, you give milk first, then solids.  (Solids are just for fun, so you don't want her to fill up on them and take less milk.) And solids just once a day at first, unless she's 6-7 months old or more.

  6. i  found it better to try the solids first and then follow on with the milk,

  7. if you mean she's starting foods but still taking milk feeds (anywhere from 6 months onwards type solids), then it actually doesn't matter.  the important part is that she still gets 1 pint of breastmilk/formula a day as they are still her main source of nutrients.  Solid foods will only be a tablespoon each meal perhaps until she wants more over time.  I changed from first milk then breaking in the middle to give milk to giving it afterwards.  then I weaned my baby from breastfeeding to formula and went back to milk first to make sure she would defintiely get enough milk during the day and not fill up on solids as her appetitie grew.  Do whatever works - just make sure she gets enough milk!

  8. give her the morning bottle when she wakes then for the next feed give her solids

  9. I was told to give some milk first then stop and try solid then finish off the milk. I tried this with my son and he hates having his bottle taken off him! he cried so much he wouldnt entertain the solid!! Now I give him a few spoonfulls of pureed fruit etc and then his bottle and he eats both! (he almost 6 months old). To be honest I dont think there is a right or wrong way of doing it but try it one way and if like me you encounter problems then try it another. Good luck!

  10. I have a 14 month old and I always gave him solids first then leave it for an hour till his bottle maybe just a little drink of water after his food.

  11. wouldn't think so as milk is a food source so she would be full of milk and wont be interested in solids at all (ask your health visitor for advice on this ) mind you my baby is now 6 lol and things change all the time  good luck xx

  12. if your just starting solids then a teaspoon full is quite enough to start with, as too much will cause constipation.

try a teaspoon full first, then follow it with the bottle to wash it down.

  13. Always feed formula/breastmilk first and then follow with solids.  Formula/breastmilk is the main source of nutrition for babies under a year old.  Any solids are just a follow up to the milk.
