Millionreasonswhy turned in a massive work before the Comely Stakes at Aqueduct
Though Sagamore Farm’s 3-year-old filly, Millionreasonswhy, came off a splendid victory in the Wide Country Stakes at Laurel Park over a distance of seven furlongs on 3 March, 2012, and in her 4 career starts she has notched up 3 wins with a second place
finish in the Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes last year, she looks in awfully good form to nab her second start of the season in the Grade 3 Comely Stakes on 7 April, 2012.
Ignacio Correas IV trained filly, Millionreasonswhy, has been preparing like a demon for her next start as she turned in a ferocious workout on the morning of 2 April, 2012, at Pimlico for her trainer, who was unable to describe how good it was.
“There’s no way to describe the way she worked today,” said Correas. The Kentucky bred daughter of Grand Slam, out of mare In Secure by A. P. Indy, Millionreasonswhy turned in four furlongs in nothing more than 48 seconds flat under jockey Hector Karamanos,
who further took the filly to complete her final eighth in 11.60 seconds.
Karamanos after work said to Correas that Millionreasonswhy was new and improved after she came back from her win in the Wide Country Stakes in which she defeated Dance To Bristol by a convincing margin of 1 ¼ lengths, as she covered the distance in 1 minute
and 24.08 seconds.
The second place finish in the Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes was seven months back in Saratoga, and she was nothing like what she is now back then.
“I really liked what she did,” Correas said of the Wide Country. “My only instructions to Karamanos were to sit with her, wait, and make one move. He only had authorization to hit her twice. I said I don’t care if you lose. He said ‘I only hit her once,
so I got one to use the next time I ride her whenever it is.’ ”
Millionreasonswhy last year turned in three starts, with a maiden special weight win at first asking, and then immediately after her maiden breaker she won the Grade 2 Matron Stakes at about 6 furlongs in 1 minute and 12.68 seconds at Belmont Park.
