Where do millipedes come from? How do they get into your house? How do you get rid of them or make sure that they don't get into your house?

I am TERRIFIED of bugs...ALL bugs!!! It does not matter how big or how small...which is why I am not searching the internet for answers....just the thought of seeing a picture of one makes my stomach sick and my skin crawl. This morning as I was walking into my bathroom and I felt something brush across my foot...I looked down and the cord to one of my curling irons was hanging down (they hang on the back of my door) so I kept walking....and then I saw it!!!!! It was GROSS.....I started screaming and jumped in the bath tub and my husband came in and got it and flushed it. It took me a while to come out of the bath tub....but now I need to know how to keep those things out of my house. I don't have small children but we do have 2 dogs in the house so I have to find something that is pet safe. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!

  1. They are good in the garden. Just spray your entrance doors with a bug spray and that keeps bugs out, no need to go crazy and spray all over. Some bugs can creep up the cracks near plumbing pipes so spray under the sinks. Once a month spraying should do it.

  2. Gas the house! I think this is the only way to get rid of them, but keep your dogs away as it is harmfull for them.

  3. Millipedes are harmless.Millipeds are those bugs that don't intentionally get into people homes. Yours came inside by accident. They don't come in swarms like other household pest. They live in areas with rotting wood, leaves, and other rotting vegetation. You may find them in any other damp spot. They eat rotting plant material. They don't bite or sting. Have your husband remove any rotting wood, leaves, twigs, pine needles away from the house and those buggers will go away. Also make sure your home doesn't have any cracks or seepage that they can crawl in(That will also improve your homes energy status) The antidote to millipedes is light and dry. And they don't come back either.
