My Family are thinking of moving us all to Cumbria, Living in London I like to shop, but don't mind the quiet either, I just want to know from those who live there, are there good places to shop, like a wide variety of shops? Also, How is internet providing up there?

  1. Millom itself is relatively small (only around 6000 people) and so doesn't have many shops other than a (small) Somerfield and a few pubs. For big shops and supermarkets etc. you'd need to travel to Barrow-in-Furness (25 miles, about 40 minutes drive) or Lancaster (50 miles, about an hour and half). Millom does have a branch railway station (not on the mainline) with regular services to Barrow.

Broadband is available in Millom, although still on copper wire; so you should be able to get around 1 to 2Mb/s.
