Milos Raonic: “I feel like I have the ability to be more dangerous than most players” – Tennis News
World number 16, Milos Raonic, crashed out of the US Open Championship on the eve of Monday at the hands of the third seed Briton star, Andy Murray, who defeated him in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. However, the 15th
seed superstar was happy from his overall performance at the Flushing Meadows in New York.
In an interview before the clash with the Briton, the 21-year-old Canadian star stated, “My job is to go out there and make my opponents adjust to me. I feel like I have the ability to be more dangerous than most players when I
have the ball on my racquet, especially out of my hand on a serve. That just puts a lot of pressure on my opponents if I’m serving well. So it’s one thing I try to take advantage of as much as I can, is that a lot of matches can depend on me. I’m the one to
blame. I just try to make the most of those moments.”
The aggression is definitely there and the willpower to mould the game style of his opponent in such a way that he enters his comfort zone and annoys the rivals.  Raonic was under the cosh in the opening round of the US Open against
the Colombian star, Santiago Giraldo, but bounced back from a trail of one set down and won the encounter in five battles.
He won a tight straight sets meet up against the French professional, Paul-Henri Mathieu, and defeated the American wildcard entrant, James Blake, with ease to book a date with the number one Briton. He planned to upset Murray
with his ability to serve faster but he couldn’t capitalize on that positive aspect of his game. He looked a bit tired and worn out as well.
Raonic has won titles in Chennai and San Jose this year. He made a final appearance at the Regions Morgan Keegan Cup but couldn’t avoid an upset against the Austrian professional, Jurgen Melzer. However, all these achievements
happened in the first two months of the season and it is high time for the Canadian to step up his game and reach the advanced stage of the tournament on regular basis.
