Milos Raonic and Daniel Nestor to marshal the Canadian squad in the Davis Cup tie – Tennis News

Canadian number one, Milos Raonic, is limbering up for the first Davis Cup tie against France which will be contested in the second week of February. He will be accompanied with a third-ranked doubles player, Daniel Nestor,
who will look to nail down the strong French squad. The first tie of the World Group will commence from the 10th of February and will take three days’ time to conclude on the 12th.
The other two participants included in the Canadian squad are Frank Dancevic and Vasek Pospisil. These two players have not represented their country in the Davis Cup since 2004 and it is a golden opportunity for them to
create a landmark in their respective careers by defeating the superior squad of France. The tie will be contested at Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver.
Raonic and Nestor are going to lead their team and the hopes of their fans. All eyes are set on the 28th ranked Canadian, Raonic, who also won the most improved player award last year. He needs to step up and motivate
his team to nail the strong French squad consisting of world number six, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, world number thirteen, Gael Monfils and the fifth ranked doubles team, Julien Benneteau and Michael Llodra.
France definitely has an edge with the two singles veterans and a duo of doubles specialist in their squad but upsets do happen. There is a chance that the young superstar, Raonic, team up with the 39-year-old veteran, Nestor,
to overpower their opponents. The combination of fresh legs and massive experience can oust the French squad but they will definitely have to work hard to achieve their goal.
Canadian Davis Cup team captain, Martin Laurendeau, shared his feelings about the preparation and the contest ahead of him in following words, “France will obviously be a tough challenge with so many top players, but I believe
in this group and their ability to rise to the occasion. We are a confident team after overcoming last year's obstacles and there is a camaraderie and respect for one another that is essential for Davis Cup success."
The odds are definitely pretty low for the Canadian squad to survive such a healthy competition but the willpower and faith in their abilities can turn around the tables for them especially for the 21-years-old, Raonic, who
has, in such a short span of time, already achieved so much that a normal tennis player can only dream off.
