Milos Raonic receives Canada’s “Best Male Athlete of the Year” award – Tennis News
Canadian number one, Milos Raonic, receives the award for the “Best Male Athlete of the Year” award by the QMI Agency. He has worked hard to secure the world top-40 rank; resultantly, he is peacefully resting on the world number
13 spot.
As a tennis professional, he has received several awards and has brought laurels to his homeland. He secured two ATP titles, bagging away a handsome total of $1.2 million after a critical hip surgery. He has proved his mark, intending
to make wonders and reach the Top-10 rankings in tennis. The 21-year-old player is unquestionably acting as a ray of hope and motivation for the other young professionals. Furthermore, he aims to work for the uplift of tennis as a sport in his country for
the generations to come.
Talking to the media, Milos said, “I want to make a change in Canada. We have such a good hockey culture. I don't think it should be any different with tennis. A big part of it is Canada has not only given to myself, but to my
family as well, a lot of opportunities. It's given a lot to me. Now is when I can give back to Canada.”
Daniel Nestor, the doubled legend, told the media, “We didn't have any stars. Now we have guys like Milos who can potentially win Grand Slams. He's got a good head on his shoulders and always made the right decisions, even from
a young age.”
The Canadian contender drastically improved his world ranking by exhibiting his remarkable game since the start of the season. At the Aircel Chennai Open, he gave straight-sets defeat to the higher ranked rival, Nicolas Almagro
in the semi-final and eventually in the final round, he defeated the Serbian number two, Janko Tipsarevic, to claim the season-opening title.
