  1. benitez on points, or late round stoppage.

  2. It might be easy to say that Benitez had trouble with tall boxers, which McCroy was.  You could also say that McCroy was a poor man's Tommy Hearns, which is actually a compliment.  He was nothing of the sort.

Comparing fighters of like styles isn't always the answer to analyzing fights.  Take Joe Frazier and Mike Tyson.  They have a lot in common but for every similarity I can give you a drastic difference.  That's why George Forman would not beat Tyson as easily as he beat Frazier.  It's also why Frazier could extend ALI, win-lose or draw, and Tyson would be stopped.

McCroy's height would not bother Benitez enough to make a difference.  Here is one case where you CAN compare fighters of like styles.  Benitez made a good account of himself in losing a decision to Hearns in 15.  McCroy was at the beginning of the 12 round "babies".  Just imagine Hearns fighting Benitez with 60% of his power and ability to take a punch.  McCroy has ALL of Hearns' weakness and NONE of his strengths save for height.  We all saw what Donald Curry thought of that.

Lacking the power of the Cobra, Benitez would have to settle for embarassing McCroy for about 10 rounds before stopping him.  I could say "decision" but I just don't think "Milt-the Stilt" has the fortitude to tough it out for 15 rounds.  He would run out of steam before Benitez could use power to KO him but the result is the same.

    Benitez by TKO in 11

But I think the Cobra stops "the Dragon"  (Benitez often called himself the Dragon) in 14

  3. Milton McCory is a cheap imitation of Thomas Hearns Benitez was the real thing he would have given McCroy a good *** whipen

  4. benitez
