Milwaukee Brewers, Aramis Ramirez establishing relations; could result in signing -MLB Update
When it comes to free agent Aramis Ramirez, it seems that the Milwaukee Brewers are the frontrunners on the road to acquiring the player as both the stakeholders are reported to have met in the recent days, which could potentially result in a signing at
any moment before the deadline to sign free agents expires.
Aramis Ramirez himself confirmed the reports along with Brewers general manager, Doug Melvin, terming that the meeting between the two went a planned. It was also learned that principal owner Mark Attanasio also attended the private meeting.
"It's always good when you see face-to-face with a player," Melvin said.
In an interview with the agent for the third baseman, Paul Kinzer, termed the Brewers as a favourite for the player and a team which he prefers to play for over the other offers he has been receiving ever since the 2011 Major League Baseball (MLB) regular
season came to a close.
"He likes that team," said Kinzer. "He wants to go to a team that has pitching and gives him a chance to win a ring. He thinks the Brewers can do that."
Along with knowing that both are working out a deal, Kinzer also told the media that Ramirez would be demanding at the least, $40-45 million over the next few seasons in order to agree to a long-term contract of such nature since the value of the player
has clearly risen with the 13-years of experience he has gained so far.
"That's in their favour," said Kinzer.
With stats such as .306 at the bat, 26 home runs, 93 RBI in 149 games with the Chicago Cubs last season, a team which he has spent the last eight seasons with, it is definitely in favour of the Milwaukee Brewers to acquire him and use the specialities that
he carries a one of the bet third baseman in the league.
Wednesday could signal the signing of Aramis Ramirez with the Milwaukee Brewers, but until then, nothing can be said for sure as other offers that might be in consideration by the player have not come in the forefront as of yet.
