Milwaukee Brewers' Corey Hart out of lineup in Monday’s game – MLB News
Milwaukee Brewers' first baseman Corey Hart was sidelined on Monday, September 10, due to an injury in his left foot. This is a worrying development and will be a blow to the club if the injury turns out to be severe.
It was on Sunday in the game against the St. Louis Cardinals that he had to make an early exit. The visible limp as he walked served as a reminder that all might not be right. Nonetheless Hart himself is hopeful that it is not a big problem.
"Hopefully, it's nothing," Hart said. "The best case, they can give me a [cortisone] shot in the foot and I can play a couple of days later."
He has been a central figure in the offence this year with the amazing performance he has exhibited. It is for this reason that the club will not be able to compensate the loss if Hart is to go, especially when the regular season is nearing end.
Having had an impressive .351 average in his last 20 games, Hart has undeniably exhibited an extraordinary game in his last 20 appearances.
Hart explained what had actually happened on Sunday that rendered him unable to play on Monday. "All I did was push off to go back to the base, and it felt like I got shot in the foot," he said.
He will be examined by physician William Raasch on Monday at Miller Park. That will give an idea what actually the problem is. The Brewers are to play the series-opener against the Atlanta Braves on Monday.
For now, it is the St. Louis Cardinals which seem to have comfortably occupied the Wild Card spot. The Brewers will be looking to exert themselves hard and win majority of the remaining games to be counted in the race.
Last year the Brewers were a contender for National League Central Championship Series. This year, they have not been able to repeat the kind of amazing performance they had exhibited in the previous regular season. If Hart goes, it will be another blow to the Brewers that want to end the season on a better note.
