Milwaukee Brewers’ Martin Maldonado praised for quality performance – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers' team manager Ron Roenicke on Tuesday, July 3, lauded Martin Maldonado for his excellent performance so far. The player was brought in after Jonathan Lucroy sustained an injury in May and has remained in the disabled list since then.
His three bunt singles have distinguished Maldonado in the Division as he is among the top players having achieved it in a short period of time. Other players in this list, which include some prominent names as well, are the likes Miami Marlins' Jose Reyes, Colorado Rockies' Dexter Fowler and Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout.
With his leading eight squeeze plays on May 30, Maldonado has now become an easily identifiable athlete in the game. This quality defensive catcher has indeed a long way to go with the best of performance he has been exhibiting throughout the season so far.
That aspect was also highlighted and praised by the team manager. "It shows what a guy can do if he just thinks about the game, looks around at the defense, thinks about what the team needs at the time and how he can help the team get on base," Brewers' manager Ron Roenicke said.
Such has been the performance of Martin Maldonado that the team manager thinks other players should watch and emulate him.
Roenicke said, "Everybody on our team should be looking and saying, 'How in the world can this guy get bunt base hits?' It should rub off on them. Sometimes it doesn't, and it baffles me, but it's a great example of what you can do to help us win."
If anything else remained to be done, it is batting. Martin Maldonado is not left behind there either. He has maintained a .267 batting average in 100 at-bat, with five homers and 16 RBIs to his credit.
From what it seems, he is all set to achieve more in the days to come. Not only defensively but also offensively, as this player will lead the lists with his quality play as the season progresses. In the days to come, he will have more surprises to give not only for his team, but to his rivals as well.
