Milwaukee Brewers' Ryan Braun affected by groin tightness
The Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun does not seem fit to appear in the Cactus League games. On Tuesday, March 20, reports popped up that he has groin tightness; something that did not allow the hitter to play against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Once the team manager was asked about it, Ron Roenicke said the player has had this problem; but he also hoped they will get rid of it.
"He's had it, but he's been able to play with it," Roenicke said. "He hasn't been running, and that's why. It's something that's aggravated him. ... Hopefully, we can get rid of it."
That he did not play the game against the Dodgers due to the problem will factor into his appearance in Wednesday’s game. The Brewers are scheduled to play against the Arizona Diamondbacks in which the outfielder may not be able to play.
The Brewers are only two weeks away from starting the regular season. Prior to formally going into the much awaited Major League Baseball games, the outfielder’s fitness will be key for the team, especially at this juncture.
On Friday, however, the Brewers have to play their game against the Los Angeles Angels. There are chances that Ryan Braun will possibly be able to be on the ballpark. It is important to recall that Ryan Braun so far has 1-for-17 record in the spring.
Braun made his way into the Spring Training after he won an appeal against the 50-game suspension due to a failed a drug test. That brought an immediate relief not only to him but also the team. It will have to be seen how quickly he recovers to lend the power to the offence that the Brewers need.
Roenicke, in the meanwhile, also spoke about the recovery Corey Hart is making after right-knee surgery.
"There's no plan as to when he's going to be in a ballgame, even though he tells you there's going to be a plan, there's no plan in place," Roenicke said. "The trainers will decide when he's ready to play in a game."
The sooner these players retain their fitness, the better it will be for the Milwaukee Brewers.
