Milwaukee Brewers' Ryan Braun expected to return on Friday – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers' left fielder Ryan Braun is all set to return to the team in Friday’s, July 20, opener against the Cincinnati Reds. The three-game series is being eagerly awaited mainly because the two teams are competing for the first time in the second-half of the season.
Ryan Braun had to sit after having a right groin strain in the game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday. Even though the injury was apparently not big enough to worry the Brewers, the team remained cautious as far as taking any potentially consequential risk is concerned.
The team manager Ron Roenicke had said that the team gave him rest so that he would be able to play with complete fitness against the Cincinnati Reds.
"He still felt it," Roenicke said Wednesday. "So, even though we need him in there against these guys, if he can't do it, with the off-day [Thursday], he should be good to go against Cincinnati."
Ryan Braun constitutes one of the most powerful components of the Brewers’ offence. After the Prince Fielder’s departure to the Detroit Tigers, Ryan Braun continues to remain the backbone of the Brewers.
A quick look at his stats since the start of the season shows that he has been of invaluable support for the Brewers. In 85 games that he has appeared, Braun has maintained a .309 average in 324 at-bats, scoring 65 RBIs with no less than 26 home-runs to his credit.
He stands first in the most home-runs in National League with 26, coming second in RBI's with 65 and .608 SLG.
The career average of the player stands at .312 in 814 games with 3203 at-bats. With 187 home-runs, the player has dominated the horizon of baseball for a long time. The Brewers’ All-Star will definitely be of invaluable use in the coming series against the Cincinnati Reds.
Friday’s game-opener will see Ryan Braun coming fresh after two days’ rest. He will certainly try to make maximum use of this rest and the energy that characterises the accomplished slugger’s performance in Major League Baseball.
