Milwaukee Brewers' Ryan Braun optimistic about regaining form – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers' left fielder Ryan Braun said on Tuesday, August 14, that he will overcome the recent mini-slump that he is experiencing. Having remained homerless in 44 plate appearances, Braun is struggling to regain his form and start contributing for the Brewers’ offence.
All said, Ryan Braun is not willing to yield to any pessimism. He maintains his calm and composure, coupled with optimism, as far as his approach is concerned.
"I've said it many times: It's all part of this game," Braun said while talking about the mini-slump he is undergoing. "You go through stretches where you're really good, stretches where you're not so good, and you try to keep your sanity in those bad times."
While he might not have been able to show the consistency on the plate, he – nevertheless, has been good enough throughout the season. But what is worrying is the fact that the Brewers have not fared well this season unlike the previous year when they made it to the National League Championship Series.
However, Braun confidently asserts he has remained consistent through most of the season.
"For the most part, I've been really consistent through most of this season," Braun said. "My numbers, month to month, have been really consistent. It just lets me know that the longer I don't go good, the higher the likelihood is that I will have a good game and get locked back in."
A look at his record this season does substantiate that.
Braun has had 108 appearances this year so far, having 418 at-bats. The left fielder has hit 29 homers and 77 RBIs, having an average of .299 with a slugging percentage of .567.
Nonetheless, the player with .310 career average has witnessed the team’s slump this year – something that has to be overcome if the Brewers intend to make it to the playoffs.
In the days to come, it will be interesting to see if Braun regains his form and starts hitting the way he has always done, boosting the team’s morale and bolstering the offence to compete the rivals in the league.
