Milwaukee Brewers' starter Shaun Marcum scheduled to have simulated game on Sunday – MLB News
While the Milwaukee Brewers are virtually reeling from defeats, the starter Shaun Marcum is gradually making strides, preparing himself to be on the mound soon. On Friday, August 3, the starter said he is trying to simulate between the innings to see if he can bounce back soon.
It is pertinent to mention here that Marcum shall have a simulated game scheduled for Sunday wherein he will face the hitters for the first time since mid-June. Marcum is in the disabled list for around two months now due to right elbow soreness.
The simulated game shall provide an opportunity both to the starter himself and the team to determine if he can pitch now.
"Obviously not try to hit anybody," Marcum spoke of the goals he has set pertaining to the simulated game. “Don't want to hurt any of my teammates. But the main thing will be the up and down, trying to simulate between innings and seeing how I bounce back from that. But the way things have been going, I don't anticipate having any problems."
But he has to be patient despite the apparent hurry to make his way back into the rotation. His Minor League rehabilitation appearances now hinges upon on his performance in the simulated game.
Marcum had only recently thrown a bullpen session that was termed successful. His Wednesday’s bullpen session had its success in the fact that he did not feel any kind of soreness or tightness in his elbow when the workout was completed.
Even then, he remains cautious as far as speeding his way back into the rotation despite the fact that sitting back – for almost two months now, has remained tough for him.
"It's tough to sit back to watch for almost two months," Marcum said. "It's been awhile, and I'm looking forward to getting out on the mound."
Marcum, be that as it may, stands a chance to come off the 60-day disabled list that is to begin from August 14. But everything depends on the simulated game that he shall have on Sunday prior to the game involving the Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals.
