Milwaukee Brewers’ Corey Hart finds himself on the disabled list – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, March 4, were in the need of another right fielder as Corey Hart became a recent victim of the disabled-list due to a torn meniscus in his right knee. Coincidentally, this is the second time in two years that Corey Hart will
not be part of the Opening Day game.
The past season saw Hart being sent to disabled-list due to rib-cage strain, taking him away from the regular season for weeks. He is once again finding himself in the similar circumstances, compounding the difficulties of the Brewers in right field. With
the current injury, Hart will be away from the game for up to 3-to-4 weeks.
The news was obviously shocking for the Milwaukee Brewers’ manager Ron Roenicke who said it will not be smart to let Hart play given the surgery he has to go through.
"You guys saw when we rushed him back last year when Nyjer [Morgan] went down and we were kind of in a need. [Hart] thought he was ready. Physically he was ready, but [in terms] of at-bats he wasn't, and it will probably be the same case. I don't want to
rush him back if this is not something smart to do with this type of surgery."
The Milwaukee Brewers will have their Opening Game against the current World Series Champions, St. Louis Cardinals. The game that involves and requires unprecedented depth will indeed want the presence of Hart on the field.
However, with such circumstances, the Brewers will be looking to find alternatives. Similarly, for Hart’s friend in the team, Ryan Braun, the club will be better off they had Corey Hart in it.
"You feel for him personally," left fielder Ryan Braun said. “So, from that perspective, it's disappointing. Obviously, as a team, we're better off if we have him.”
Circumstances do not indeed favour the Brewers at this point in time. However, with the meniscus tear that Hart has suffered, it will certainly be advisable that he stays away from the game so that a fit right fielder can take charge of the match once he
recuperates.
