Milwaukee Brewers’ Corey Hart might not appear in Opening Day game – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers’ outfielder Corey Hart stands minimal chances to appear in the Opening Day game said a report on Monday, March 5. The outfielder is reported to have surgery on Tuesday in suburban Phoenix to repair the torn cartilage in his right knee.
Considering the latest development, Corey Hart, as the report pointed out, might not be able to appear in the Opening Day game this year as well. For last two years, it is interesting to note, the Brewers’ outfielder has somehow coincidentally not been able
to play any Opening Day game.
But as unexpected and potentially decisive this development is, Corey Hart does not want to be carried away by it. The outfielder expressed that missing a week of games is not a big thing as fitness is important at this point.
“I'd rather get this out of the way now and not have to worry about it," Hart said. "If I miss a week or two weeks of games, that's not a big thing. I'll be back soon."
Corey Hart is intent upon making an early return. At a time when the Brewers no longer have Prince Fielder in their fold, it has become inevitable for the club to have as indispensable an outfielder as Hart in the team.
"It's OK. I haven't had a Spring Training hit in two years, so we might as well make it a third," said Corey Hart who was alluding to the slump he witnessed in 2010 and got injured in 2011. "I know what I need to do to get ready, and I'll find a way to get
back."
Hart did have the option of avoiding the surgery. However, if he opted for this choice, he will not be able to give a 100 percent performance that the team expects from him. In Arizona, it will be doctors William Raasch and Evan Lederman who will perform
the surgery.
With the history of injuries that Corey Hart has had, it will be interesting to see if he quickly overcomes the problem and makes a strong presence on the field at a time when he is needed more than ever.
