Milwaukee Brewers’ Corey Hart shines after knee surgery in March—MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke stated on Monday, April 9, that the team will know how many games that they can play with Corey Hart. The right fielder who is gradually regaining his fitness and form back after the knee surgery appeared in the series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The player had undergone knee surgery in March. Back then it was being considered somewhat difficult, if not impossible, to see him come back in the regular season soon. However, the games against the Cardinals showed he is all set to crystallize the offence.
If there was any evidence that needed to be established regarding his form, he did it with three long homers in the opening series where he remained 4-for-9. That was a test that he successfully passed.
As to how the team manager views it, and whether he would let Hart keep swinging the bat, Roenicke prefers caution over the excitement.
"We'll see how many games we can play him without giving him a little break," Roenicke said. "He's doing really well. It's hard to take him out because [he's hot], and because he feels so well. If he was a little sore, I wouldn't have any problem taking him out, but he feels really good."
The next game that Hart is supposed to play is the encounter bringing the Brewers and the Chicago Cubs together. There he will face Ryan Dampster. That will be a showdown worth watching for many fans.
After having the surgery on 6th of March and making this comeback, Hart has silenced a lot of critics, and supposedly hushed the scepticism over his ability to play well.
"I didn't want to back down," Hart said. "I wanted to be here, there were no setbacks, which was big, and the baseball stuff came pretty quick."
When the Brewers take on the Cubs in the final of three-game series, where the former has 1-0 lead so far, it will be of immense interest to see how Hart maintains his poise there, hitting and scoring against a strong pitcher like Ryan Dampster of the Cubs.
