Milwaukee Brewers’ GM Doug Melvin expects Aramis Ramirez can help fill space left by Prince Fielder
The Milwaukee Brewers’ current general manager Doug Melvin has some great expectations from former Chicago Cubs star Aramis Ramirez, who has recently joined the Brewers management for next three seasons.
Recently, on the arrival of Ramirez in the franchise, the Brewers’ GM Melvin said with great confidence,
“I know when we played them he was always the one guy I feared coming up in key situations with men on base, we’re real happy to have him here on our side. I always heard that Aramis would like to play here, when you get a player, his calibre, wanting to
come to Milwaukee.”
Melvin added, “He's one of the top run-producers and sluggers in the game, and it's obvious we will need that as it appears that Prince Fielder will probably not be coming back at this time.”
Prince Fielder, who is considered one of the most talented players in the Major League Baseball, has become free agent this offseason after playing his entire career in Milwaukee despite given plenty of offers by the Brewers. Some say he is done playing
for the Brewers now and wants to test his skills with some other team in the league. However, this wish of Fielder certainly alarmed the Brewers’ management until they signed Aramis Ramirez.
Ramirez was officially introduced by the Brewers on Wednesday in-front of a large media audience where the top officials from the Brewers’ management was also present giving all kinds of details about the contract.
Ramirez and the Brewers agree to sign a three year deal worth $36 million with an optional fourth year as well. Not only Ramirez has been signed by the Brewers but they have also traded away their talented player Casey McGehee for cutting some salary overload
and to bring some financial sustainability in the franchise.
Ramirez’s stats include hitting average of .306 along with 26 homers 93 RBIs in 2011 for the Chicago Cubs. While career hitting average of .284 along with 315 home-runs and total 1,122 RBI in overall 1,683 games is also a tremendous achievement. It looks
like Ramirez will put a positive impact in the Milwaukee Brewers franchise in the upcoming days.
