Milwaukee Brewers’ Marco Estrada assertive after first start in Cactus League – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers appear ever stronger in defence as Marco Estrada had his start on Wednesday, March 7. Estrada, who was the fifth pitcher to start for the Milwaukee Brewers in the Cactus League, was euphoric and thrilled with his pitching spell on Wednesday.
The young Estrada is among the list of best pitchers in the Milwaukee Brewers who are to demonstrate their skills this season. Considering the fact that he is in line with the likes of Zack Greinke, Randy Wolf, Yovani Gallardo and Chris Narveson, he has
a lot to achieve to rise to glory in the days to come.
The Cactus League has provided him an ideal opportunity to show his class as a competent starter, adding more strength to the club’s defence. Since Shaun Marcum is reported to have problems in his shoulder these days, Estrada may prove to be a substitute
for him.
After all, Estrada had been brought the past season to replace Zack Greinke who was afflicted by injury. The game on Wednesday against the White Sox, where the Brewers won a decisive 10-6 victory, had Estrada’s invaluable contribution. "Thank God, I didn't
give any runs up then," Estrada said. "I had no idea."
However, Estrada will like to see Shaun Marcum get fit as he thinks he will then have one inning instead of five to pitch. "It's easier to go from five innings to one than from one to five," he said.
The young pitcher had made his debut back in 2008 and since then has played a total of 65 games. To his credit he has nine starts so far, having had a 5.08 ERA, winning four of the games. He has 120 strike-outs to his credit with a 1.32 WHIP.
The past season saw the player have a total of seven starts in the 43 games that he played on behalf of the Milwaukee Brewers. Although he has yet to get a regular chance as far as rotation is concerned, what is known is that he has the capability to storm
any offence in the League with full force.
