Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder set for postseason – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers are eyeing an exceptionally big performance from their duo Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder as the postseason nears. Considered to be the best hitters of the game currently, the two have contributed to big wins for the Brewers throughout
the season.
Playing together for the last five years, they have remained dominant. Their performance in the game has been tremendous and they are compared to Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson who played for the Arizona Diamondbacks. While Johnson eventually became a
Hall of Famer, Braun and Fielder have yet to mount that peak.
Importantly, Johnson had his feat in pitching, while the two here have their forte in hitting. Schilling and Johnson had played the most vital part in helping the Arizona Diamondbacks win the 2001 World Series, an achievement that could well embellish the
already exquisite record of both Prince and Braun representing the Milwaukee Brewers.
The third baseman Casey McGehee has something to offer here when he was asked to comment on it. He thinks drawing a parallel between Schilling, Johnson, Braun and Fielder is right as the two hitters have been the most essential part for winning the big games
for the Brewers.
McGehee said, "You look at what they've done individually, and it's tremendous. Then you start adding up what they've done together going back over the years, and it's tremendous."
If nothing else, a look at the combination of these two players bring to fore a lot of great insight. Since 2007, Fielder and Braun have had a total of 355 home-runs, the most for any duo in the Majors so far. Both have also homered in the same game 35 times
which in itself remains a record in the history of baseball.
McGehee believes both players have displayed some of the best traits of tremendous players. As the postseason nears, there is absolutely no doubt that the two will continue to wreck havoc on the rival teams.
"If you really watch Braun in [batting practice], he has ridiculous power. It's just overshadowed a little bit by Prince," McGehee said. "And if you really look at Prince, he's a real good hitter.”
The Milwaukee Brewers will face the Florida Marlins on Friday. Both Braun and Fielder have put in some brilliant performances for the Brewers during the regular season. It will be interesting to see how the duo take on the Marlins to further improve their
combined record and get ready for the all important postseason.
