Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun deemed instrumental for offence—MLB News
The former Milwaukee Brewers hitting coach Dale Sveum – now Chicago Cubs’ manager, said on Monday, April 09, that Ryan Braun will have another solid season this year. The former hitting coach was expressing his views prior to the commencement of the three-game
series against the Brewers.
Ryan Braun has had several challenges to confront in the recent past. After the departure of Prince Fielder, the slugger with whom he formed an incredibly solid duo, Braun also had to face the controversy involving the failed drug test.
But, the most pressing of challenge would be that of Braun without being backed by Prince Fielder. Nonetheless, in Sveum’s view, Braun can handle that quite effectively as the stats have shown over the years.
"You always say that about great hitters and stuff, and the season gets over and their numbers still seem to be the same," Sveum said Monday, before managing against his former team. "There's a lot of great hitters and you say, 'He never had anyone hitting
behind him,' and you look up and he hit 35 [home runs] and had 100-plus [RBIs]. Some guys are just that good.”
Dale Sveum, instead of seeing it with the prism of what is missing or what could affect the performance a great deal, bases his views on the record of the player. Ever since his arrival in 2008, the player has dominated the seasons with his impressive batting
average.
"That's why you saw MVP numbers and a .330 [batting average] instead of .300," Sveum said. "When you get better pitches to hit, your average and everything will be much better.”
There is no denial that whenever and wherever the team has needed the services of this player, he has come forward ever stronger. The opening series that the Brewers had against the St. Louis Cardinals showed how capable this player is to turn the tide.
As the season progresses, Prince Fielder’s absence may well be felt by the Brewers. Nonetheless, as Dale Sveum put, Ryan Braun will be instrumental in charging up the club’s offence against any and every team in the league.
