Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun takes the challenge as an opportunity – MLB News
The embattled outfielder of the Milwaukee Brewers has said that he has a lot of love and respect for the game of baseball and whatever he has done so far is out of that respect and admiration for the game.
This he said in his first ever speech ever since he finds himself locked in controversy he might not have anticipated. A failed drug test in December threatens to taint a career that has remained bright to date, thanks to his tremendous performance.
After becoming the National League Most Valuable Player, he accepted his award here in an event held by New York chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. The outfielder remained terse and avoided to dwell on the brewing controversy.
Calling every challenge either an obstacle or opportunity, the young player said that he had always chosen every challenge as opportunity as the one he is currently faced with will be treated no differently.
"Sometimes in life, we all deal with challenges we never expected to endure," Braun told an audience at the Hilton New York in midtown Manhattan. "We have an opportunity to look at those challenges and view them either as obstacles or as opportunities.”
Braun added, “I've chosen to view every challenge I've ever faced as an opportunity, and this will be no different. I've always believed that a person's character is revealed through the way they deal with those moments of adversity.”
The positivity that was evident in the awaited speech goes on to show that the player is committed to steer himself away from it. The player of his calibre will definitely strive that given the potentially negative impact the controversy has on his career.
The consistency exhibited all these years, especially his last year’s performance whereby he maintained a .332 average, is a great commentary on the illustrious career of the player.
Forcefully denying to have taken any performance-enhancing drug, with the results already challenged, Braun has put himself on a path that is hardly traversed. He will be the first ever MLB player to have successfully challenged a result if his drug tests
are invalidated.
