Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun to give speech on Saturday – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers’ outfielder Ryan Braun is expected to deliver a short speech on Saturday, January 22. This will not be a speech on the controversy that has surrounded the player. Rather, it will be an acceptance speech for being the winner of the National
League Most Valuable Player Award.
The speech will be delivered in New York which is expected to be heard by overly zealous fans of the player, awaiting the result of the appeal he has made in the failed drug test. Ryan Braun, it is important to mention, is facing a 50-game suspension if
his appeal is rejected by a 3-person jury.
"He will be there and he will accept his award," Matthew Hiltzik, a spokesman hired by Braun's agency, CAA Sports, told the New York Times. The player retains exceptional place in the team owing to his laudable performance ever since his arrival in the team.
While the Brewers have already signed a multimillion dollar deal with the player that will end in 2020, this possible suspension will impact the outfielder enormously as he has shown remarkable consistency on the field in recent years.
Since the Hall of Famer Robin Yount won it the last time in 1989, he was the only Milwaukee Brewers player to have received the prestigious MVP Award.
The player, it seems, is also waiting for an occasion to speak. But since his appeal is sub judice before a panel, the outfielder is not expected to talk much. "I would love to talk, but unfortunately I'm not really allowed to say anything right now. My
day will come soon,” Ryan Braun said.
Importantly, many fans will be wondering if he will talk about the suspension in the speech. From the face of it, it does not seem likely that the player will have any words on the possible suspension for now.
Brewers are indeed patiently waiting for the outcome of the current proceedings. They will definitely want their player to remain intact in this case. If that happens, that will indeed be a great sigh of relief for the Brewers.
