Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun to play on Thursday – MLB News
If there is something that Ryan Braun, the left-fielder of Milwaukee Brewers, did not want at this time, it was the lingering calf strain. The injury has viciously added to his woes, but he intends to start playing from Thursday against the Colorado Rockies.
“I think I'll be able to play; I really do," Braun said Monday. "I feel good. Dan Wright, one of our trainers, is here so he'll be able to oversee my treatment. I expect to play on Thursday."
His injury could not possibly have come at a more undesirable and apprehensively dreaded time. The incredibly talented left-fielder ended up missing the All-Star game, an event players could not even think of missing.
However, what comes forward as something more important for him is the rehabilitation and quick fitness. He could well have played the All-Star game at the risk of worsening the injury, but career remains important.
"All I'm focusing on is doing my rehab stuff, trying to get back to 100% and be able to play on Thursday," he said. "So, I think I'll be able to enjoy the experience a little bit more as a fan of baseball.
For now he intends to be part of All-Star festivities, if not the anxiously awaited games. Even though he was unable to play, he did start practicing on Monday, accompanied by Prince Fielder and Rickie Weeks.
It would now be of great interest for the team-mates, the higher-ups to see how the left-fielder restarts the season after the recuperation. Facing the Colorado Rockies will be the first test for the players.
With regrets and anticipation combined, whereby he has missed last eight consecutive games and will now play on Thursday against the Colorado Rockies, he would surely be trying to do something different to compensate for his conspicuous absence.
The mid-fielder’s record is indeed exceptionally good with his predictably consistent performance throughout the season apart from the injury that he recently had to face.
Ever since 2009 when he became part of the Milwaukee Brewers, by earlier being drafted in 2003, the 6ft 1in player has contributed a great deal to the Milwaukee Brewers.
This season, he has played a total of 83 games and has remained 306 at-bats. His hitting average, while remaining excellent, is accompanied by the runs he has scored.
Braun has so far scored 57 runs in the regular season of 2011 with no less than 16 home-runs, having 62 RBI to his credit and 98 hits. His average currently stands at .320 and .402 OBP.
His career average is .309 with 454 runs to his credit in 2622 at-bats he has remained. The upcoming days, for sure, will see the player make a stronger case of why he remains important to the Brewers.
