Milwaukee Brewers’ Zack Greinke to talk about contract extension – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers’ starter Zack Greinke stated on Sunday, January 29 that he will personally hold talks with the club on contract extension as he does not have an agent. Calling it an exciting thing, he commented that he liked the business of baseball.
However, he did add that he did not want to be his own agent. Zack Greinke, it is relevant to mention here, is entering in the last of four seasons he had signed his contract for. The contract, which is worth $38 million for four years, will come to an end
after the season.
"I'll talk to them about it. I don't really want to talk to anyone else about it. But I like the business of baseball. It's exciting for me. It's not like I plan on being my agent, but it is exciting being able to know what's going on behind the scenes."
Zack Greinke became part of the Milwaukee Brewers when the latter decided to acquire him from the Kansas City Royals. Since his induction in the Brewers, the player has shown remarkable consistency, having one of the best seasons last year with his stats.
The ace Brewers pitcher had 16 wins to his credit in 2011 with 3.83 ERA. Greinke was singlehandedly responsible for endowing 17 such victories for the team on their home ground, storming the otherwise strong offence with marvellous force.
His stay at the Milwaukee Brewers, as he puts it, has been quite an enriching experience for the starting pitcher.
"Yeah. I'm not talking about that," Greinke said. "But I do really enjoy the coaching staff and the front office here. It's a good organization. I know coming here this year it's a lot easier for the Fan Fest thing. I know the guys here.”
The fact that he got injured last year kept him away from the game for a month; a mistake that he does not want to repeat again. He will have a lot to learn from the upcoming Spring Training that will be followed by the commencement of the 2012 Major League
Baseball regular season in March.
