Milwaukee Brewers a ‘great ballclub’ this year: Ron Roenicke – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers’ manager Ron Roenicke stated on Monday, February 13, that while it was a great year for them last year, they will have a great ballclub this year. Commenting on the preparations for the Major League Baseball regular season, he said
that the team has changed a lot of things last year.
"We love our team," Roenicke told a crowd at ‘Brewers On Deck,’ the club's winter fanfest. "We think we had a great year last year, we changed some things, we have some different personnel this year [but] we think we have a great ballclub this year."
Considering the fact that the club outperformed several rivals last year, that statement indeed is accurately positioned. With one of the best offensive line-ups that the club boasted, the Brewers came down hard on the Division teams.
Therefore, once Spring Training kicks off this month, the Milwaukee Brewers shall start it as the defending Division Champions. Looking back, the performance that the Brewers put was simply unmatched, remaining the Division Champions for the first time since
1983.
There was, however, a lot that the ardent enthusiasts of the team expected from the club. Given the unbeatable streak that they had throughout the season, many people thought they were all braced to win the World Series.
However, that dream could not be materialised due to many factors. One was the unusually strong show put by the St. Louis Cardinals that outshone the Milwaukee Brewers; something that Nyjer Morgan cannot forget to the date.
"We came really close, but we didn't get the cigar," said out-fielder Nyjer Morgan.
The past year, it is worthwhile to mention, it was Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun that helped the team raise their competitive level and move upwards. For Corey Hart, Fielder is a star, a game-changer and the one who made the team unbeatable against all the
rivals involved.
Nonetheless, with Ryan Braun facing suspension and Prince Fielder gone, there are a lot of challenges that the club will need to effectively handle. From the face of it, they are ready to face any challenge now as they get ready for the 2012 Major League
Baseball regular season.
