Milwaukee Brewers activate Cesar Izturis - MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, June 22, made another move and activated their shortstop Cesar Izturis as he was consigned to the 15-day disabled list. The move will move to bolster the team’s defence at the time when the Brewers are trying to ascend the table in the league as they have recently seen some slump.
It was on May 25 when the strained left hamstring forced the team to reconsider keeping him in the roster. With the injury having the potential of becoming worrying, the team decided to go for safer option and sent him to the disabled list.
With Cesar Izturis back in the team, the team manager found it a nice development for the defence of the team. Especially the rejoining of the player at the right time was important for Ron Roenicke.
"It's nice to see Izzy back," said manager Ron Roenicke. "With the off-day yesterday, the timing worked out well."
On the other hand, the infielder himself hoped he would be able to stay with the team for rest of the season. Calling the injury frustrating, he – nevertheless, said it was part of the game.
"It's frustrating a little bit because you want to play and you want to be with the team and it's hard, but it's part of the game," Izturis said. "I'm healthy and hopefully can stay with the team the rest of the season."
Thursday will see the player making his first appearance. He shall play as shortstop in the first game of the series against the Chicago White Sox which will also determine if he has retained his fitness and power back.
When it comes to Cesar Izturis himself, he seemed satisfied with the rehab games that he played; the credit – as he said, goes to the trainers.
"When you play in rehab games, you know yourself," he said. "Back there, I played four games and I feel good. I have to give credit to the trainers."
Thursday’s game against the Chicago White Sox will not only be important for the team Brewers, but also for Cesar Izturis himself as it will set the course for the future games.
