Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds in a race to move up in the division - MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds will battle it out on Tuesday, June 26, in a bid to achieve bigger gains in the division prior to the commencement of All-Star Break. Their effort for now is focused on surpassing each other when it comes to the division table.
However, there are a few things that constitute an almost insurmountable hurdle for the Brewers. They will be looking to work harder and with a relatively invulnerable strength and force, to compete against the Reds.
A quick look at the statistics of the two teams shows that the Brewers are trailing no less than seven and a half  games in the division when it comes to the Reds. This deficit is indeed somewhat big given the impressive performance of the Reds.
This essentially means that once the two teams face each other on Monday, the Brewers will be looking to gain a decisive lead in the three-game series to balance things for themselves. The Brewers can make use of something that is not currently going to the Reds’ advantage.
That is the fact that the Reds have lost five of their last six games. That comes across as the weak spot of the Reds which the Brewers may turn to account.
Brewers' manager on Monday, June 25, alluded to this aspect and hoped that the team will have a good week. Nevertheless, he did not shirk away from admitting that he is a little concerned by how the team has performed lately.
"I think it's a way we can get back in this thing, and I've talked about, 'All we need is a good week,' and I still believe that," he said. "But I'm also concerned, just about the way we're playing. I think that's where my concentration is -- not on who we're playing, but how we're playing."
Reds' manager, on the other hand, has his considerations. "You want to finish in a flurry," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "When this is over, you want to start fast in the second half. It's a tough road we've got."
The Monday encounter, and other two games, will have all the flavour of entertainment for the fans. It will be interesting to see who gains the upper hand in the series.
