Milwaukee Brewers beat San Diego Padres 4-3 – MLB Update
Milwaukee Brewers dominated the San Diego Padres 4-3 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, October 2 at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
Brewers’ upfront batting line-up played beautifully and earned a great victory in the end. It was a well fought victory for the Brewers who as a team did not give many loop-holes to the Padres and rattled them with fierce determination.
Catcher Martin Maldonado played beautifully and scored one run on one hit. He ran for exceptional four RBIs and maintained his slugging percentage at .411.
He showed great temperament and earned a great victory for his team. His three at-bats were a constant threat for the Padres' pitchers as he hammered them with big hits.
"I thought we had a Nashville Sounds game, It is, especially when you only get to play once a week, It's hard, but you have to keep doing your thing and working hard," Maldonado said with detail.
Along with batters, the Brewers' pitchers also did very well on the mound and earned a great victory for their team.
Starter Tyler Thornburg pitched four innings and received one run on four hits. He struck-out four and maintained his ERA at 4.50.
"It was on the board there, and I thought it was false," Jim Henderson said.
Relief pitcher Brandon Kintzler also did well on the mound as he tossed 1.1 solid innings and received only one hit. He struck-out one while his ERA remained consistent on 2.87.
"Got into trouble quick, but luckily got out of it," John Axford said.
On the other hand, the Padres did not play as one unit. Their lame defensive strategy caused them with a humiliating defeat.
"Physically, I felt fine, It's one of those things where you have to execute a pitch in those situations and I didn't," Anthony Bass said on his performance as well as Padres overall performance which did not attack the Brewers’ batters at all.
Though they could have done much better but still it was Brewers’ top offence which ultimately proved too good for them.
